Note the color changes in the soldier’s coat, hat, and stripes and the pallor of his face and hands.
The medals on his chest in the second picture indicate he has fought bravely. Hi wife, though intensely concerned, stands by with his crutch. The men at wharfside also offer compassionate assistance.
