"Situated in the center of the Plaza, this Mission Revival style building was designed by San Francisco architect, Adolph C. Lutgens, so that all four sides are identical, presumably to avoid controversy among the merchants, each of whom felt the building should face in his direction." -- Sonoma League for Historic Preservation
